IranPolitik co-founder and managing editor Farzan Sabet presented at an international research workshop, entitled The fragments imagine the nation? Minorities in the colonial and postcolonial Middle East, at the Graduate Institute, Geneva, on 08 November 2013. The workshop was organized by Jordi Tejel as part of the States, Minorities and Conflicts in the Middle East research project. More than a dozen scholars from prestigious universities around the world shared their research at this event.
Mr. Sabet discussed Fadi Dawood’s (SOAS, London) paper, The Ba‘qubah refugee camp and the makings of the modern Iraqi state, and answered questions about his own paper, Minorities and the secular left in post-revolutionary Iran.
The workshop was supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the Pierre du Bois Foundation for Current History and the Levant Foundation.
