Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Alam al-Hoda, Mashhad’s Friday prayer leader, at a gathering called “The Imam’s school and the true Principalism” in Mashhad on Friday complained that it appears that anyone who supports the Supreme Leader is placed in the lowest echelons of government: “In these institutions if anyone speaks in support of the Supreme Leader, they are removed from their position.”
Alam al-Hoda, also a member of the Assembly of Experts, predicted that the future Majlis (the IRI’s legislature) election will be the most disastrous in the revolution’s history, and asserted: “In this election all currents, even the Reformists, will enter the political field under the cloak of Principalism.”
Editor’s note: Alam al-Hoda is one of the main conservative clergymen in the Principalist faction. His characterization of the upcoming Majlis election as “…the most disastrous in the revolution’s history” is a sign of the deepening rift between Principalists and the Neo-Principalists, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s circle.
